Los tratamientos médicos de la comunidad LBGTTTI se realizan con toda normalidad

El Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS) en Tlaxcala, de conformidad con su vocación de servicio y conforme a la ley, está plenamente comprometido con las personas de la comunidad lésbico, gay, bisexual, transexual, transgénero, travesti e intersexual (LBGTTTI) para garantizar sus derechos y prerrogativas.
México conmemora de manera oficial el 17 de mayo como el Día Nacional de la Lucha contra la Homofobia, desde 2014.
Hace 30 años, la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) eliminó la homosexualidad del catálogo de enfermedades mentales. Para conmemorar la fecha, en 2004 se estableció al 17 de mayo como el “Día Internacional contra la Homofobia y la Transfobia”.
En los últimos años, han sido muchos los avances en materia de igualdad que en México se han conseguido. Dentro de estos destacan la denominación registral para personas transexuales, la inclusión de artículos en algunos estatutos de autonomía en torno a la no discriminación por orientación sexual e identidad de género, el derecho al matrimonio entre personas del mismo sexo y el protocolo para atención médica para población LGBTTTI en el sector salud.
No obstante, y pese a los reconocimientos legales, en nuestro país siguen existiendo un importante número de casos de discriminación hacia el colectivo LGBTTTI.
Por ello, para el IMSS resulta significativo, ser también la casa de los miembros de la comunidad LBGTTTI, donde se les ha brindado la atención debida, incluso de manera quirúrgica conforme a sus requerimientos y necesidades.
De esta forma, se garantiza el tratamiento a los pacientes con VIH, por lo que pueden llevar su vida con toda normalidad, siempre y cuando lo lleven de manera disciplinada.
